Received recall letter concerning floor mats awhile ago but no follow up from toyota. I also read where my 2009 was on a recall for accelator pedal problem, why wasn’t I informed of that ?

I ordered a Toyoto Highlander back in November, 2009. It arrived at the dealership about 2 weeks ago. Since that time, I have simply asked (due to the gas pedal problem Toyoto has been having,and considering the time frame of my order and delivery), for a written statement that my vehicle doesnot have the gas pedal problem or that it has been fixed. It has been very difficult acquiring the written statement. I would like to take possession of the vehicle as soon as possible, but can’t seem to get the reassurance need. The dealer sent me form indicating that my VIN “No information found” but that is too vague. What can I do?

I thought I’d read that Toyota sent out some incentive money to dealerships to help off set the cost to repair recalls, and to show their customers that they care about them, like a fuel fill up or to wash/vacuum their car.
Good business sense at least. Are their other’s who have heard this?

Toyota Customer Service has simply stopped answering the phone. Similarly if you bring your car to a dealer and now note an electrical problem of any sort they simply will not keep a record of it that can be referenced. Has anyone else seen this issue?….. and finally they will send you to a customer service representative who simply is unavailable or will not talk to you. Toyota….shame on you…they should close you down starting with you local dealers.
What is the address to send a letter about an incident of accelator speedup? I have called the Customer Service number dozens of times and only get a recording.
We have a 2008 Lexus ES350 and have had no issues whatsoever. Nonetheless, I have had the recall work done to the car. We now have just over 20K miles on it. My question is this:
1. Is there a certain mileage point between which the rapid acceleration has been noted to happen ?
2. Has Toyota or Lexus initiated any type of buy back plan for their vehicles ?
I know Toyota has been having difficulty pinpointing the problem. I had a similar issue 30 years ago with a chevy impala. It turned out to be an issue with the cruise control engaging by itself. just thought I’d mention it to see if toyota looked at that as a possible cause.
If the brake/throttle override is activated is there any way to resume normal driving without coasting to a stop and restarting the engine?
I find it amazing that Toyota has spent time and money to send new information regarding the use of 0/20 motor oil in the 2010 Prius but to date I have yet to receive any information from Toyota regarding the recall on my car and what steps I should take.
This is great information for the media outlets since engine oil is now more important to Toyota than recall information.
@Darlene
You would have to ask National if they have taken all their inventory through the recall process.
